Beschreibung

This is the predecessor of our BESOAIN - wine and not only does it show the same elegance, but it also impresses with its optimal maturity and silky soft tannin structure. It comes from the best location for Cabernet Sauvignon in Chile, the Alto Maipo, from a terrace above the Maipo River.

Vintage: 2015

Origin: Buin, Maipo Valley, Chile

Grape variety: 95% Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting

Colour: brilliant ruby red

Aromas: strawberry jam, slate and vanilla
Balanced palate, firm, silky smooth tannins, white pepper, persistent and delicate texture

Oenologist : Miguel Besoaín

Harvest time: Handpicked, 4th week in April

Quantity: 7500 kg per hectare

Production size: 40 barriques

Vinification : pre-fermentative cold maceration of 7 days, alcoholic fermentation in small stainless steel tanks, post-fermentative maceration of 5 days, malolactic fermentation in barriques.
Each grape variety is matured in barriques. The cuving takes place just a few days before bottling. The wine is neither fined nor filtered.

Ageing: 100% of the wine ages in personalized French oak barrels for over 18 months and then in bottle for over a year before being released to the market.
The barrels are used 90% in second use to produce a more fruity and lively wine.

Harvest: The early summer was dry and slightly warm resulting in reasonable water restriction. The ripening process was consistent throughout the season, allowing the harvest in the last week of April to provide optimal taste and aromas.

Vineyards: The average age of the vines is 26 years. They are 650 meters above sea level.

Soil condition: Alluvial origin. The first 20 cm of the soil is a mixture of clay and gravel. After one meter depth there are some calcareous fringes mixed with colluvial particles coming from the surrounding mountains.

Climate: The vineyard is situated on a terrace above the Maipo river. The semi-arid Mediterranean climate with an average annual rainfall of 350 mm ensures stable and optimal weather conditions with a high level of sunshine during the ripening period and cool night airs coming down from the Andes. As a result, there are strong temperature fluctuations of 28°C during the day and 10-12°C at night.
